Learning to knit can be a fun activity at any age. Using knitting wool to create scarves, blankets, sweaters, and many other items of clothing and linens can be very relaxing and rewarding. For many, learning to knit may take a few months and a few yards of knitting wool before getting the rhythm right. Learning from a friend or family member used to be the only way a person could learn to knit. But now, there are knitting clubs that have begun that teach those who are eager to learn. By starting out slowly and learning how to manipulate that needs and wool, most people will be able to create something from nothing more than a piece of string.
There are many grades of knitting wool. Softer grades that have been spun a few times or blended with other fabrics, coarser wool that have been spun once, and synthetic fabrics that feel like wool, but are less expensive. When learning to how to knit, it is best to choose a less expensive fabric and save the knitting wool for later on. Chances are this wool will be used for practice and not to create anything that will be used in the home or as clothing. Once a person has become better at knitting, then it is time to consider heavier knitting wool.
Knitting wool can be found in most hobby shops or it can be ordered online. Some wool comes in lots of colors, while others only the basic colors. Depending on what a person is trying to make, the color of the this wool can make a difference in the final product. There are many ways to sell clothing and other items made of wool after they are completed. Flea markets, small shops, and yard sales are all ways to sell items made from wool. Many people like wearing wool and will definitely buy a piece or two.
